Nursing Care

The Benefits of the Infusion Therapy Nurse

IV Med Services (IVMS) offers home nursing services for all in-home infusion patients, and thoroughly trains patients and caregivers to administer treatments and participate in the patient’s care when ongoing nursing visits are not covered.  Working together with our infusion services and our pharmacy staff, IVMS’s nurses are an integral part of the seamless, coordinated care that compliments your treatment.  Your team of pharmacists, technicians, care management specialists, and nurses are in constant communication, working together in collaboration to provide you with the highest level of service and the best individualized care in every aspect of your experience.

Our Team

Our nurses are specially trained in infusion therapy, including the administration of IVIG treatments.  They each have a proven track record, and are PICC and IV Certified.  We hold our nurses to the same high standards as all of our employees—and we communicate our expectations clearly: compassion, professionalism, skill, integrity, accountability, and excellence in every aspect of service.  Our infusion therapy nurses continuously exceed our expectations, and surpass the goals in patient care and clinical practice that we set for them.

IVMS has a national network of credentialed agencies that provide home nursing services, allowing us to serve patients in many areas.

The Role of the Infusion Therapy Nurse

IVMS’s home nursing services include:

  • Patient assessment and nutrition screening
  • Comprehensive patient education
  • Management of intravenous catheters (peripheral, midline and PICC)
  • Skilled home nursing services such as administration of medications, catheter site care, patient education, blood specimen collection, etc.
  • Communication with the other members of the healthcare team regarding identified care needs and response to therapy.
